Urbanization
Urbanization is a process wherein a rural area or town is developed from its rural characteristics into a more modern type of living. Usually, technology and civilization are associated with this kind of development. The 20th century is said to be the “Urban Millennium” due do the very rapid urbanization of the entire population of the world. Although the urbanization rate across the world varies from country to country, urban population dramatically rose to 49% in 2005 from 13% in 1900, and 29% in 1950. It is projected that the urbanization rate will rise to 60% by 2030. By 2050, almost two thirds of the world’s population will be living in urban cities and towns.
